Call for Proposals – 2018 Toronto Convention Breakout Sessions
Call for Breakout Session Proposals
Thank you for your interest in presenting a breakout session at the 2018 Rotary International Convention. Before developing your proposal, please review the below information carefully.
Eligibility
Any Rotarian, Rotaractor, Rotary alumnus, or approved Rotary organization (such as a Rotarian Action Group or Rotary Fellowship) may propose a breakout session. To ensure high-quality, educational experiences for attendees, we request that all organizers have:
- Experience as a speaker or facilitator
- Education or expertise in the subject matter of the proposed session
Deadline
All proposals must be submitted online by 23:59 Chicago time (UTC-5) on Sunday, 1 October 2017. We are unable to accept proposals submitted by email or after the deadline.
Selection Process and Criteria
Space for breakout sessions is limited. We try to offer as many sessions as possible while balancing topics and styles. Subject matter experts will evaluate proposals on the following criteria.
- Completeness, accuracy, and clarity
- Alignment with Rotary’s strategic priorities and the purpose and themes of the convention
- Clearly defined learning objectives
- Potential for audience engagement and learning
RI President Ian Riseley will confirm the final program with input from the convention committee. Rotary will notify you by early November whether your proposed session will be offered in Toronto.
Registration requirements
Breakout session leaders and speakers must register for the convention and pay the appropriate fees. Register online at riconvention.org. Complimentary registration may be available for a limited number of non-Rotarian guest speakers (from partner organizations, for example). If your proposal is accepted, you will receive further instructions about guest speaker registration.
